Miss Cynthia's Sweeeet Beignets! Kick Off the Sweet Month of October with a Treat Not a Trick! Ladera Heights, CA.

Flyer for Beignets & Coffee-1

New Orleans King Cakes and Smash Cakes were my sweet introductions to one of the most lovely, jovial and generous women you will ever meet in your journey through life — that woman is Miss Cynthia Shaw of New Orleans Sweet Treats.

I had the pleasure to speak with Miss Cynthia at length when I interviewed her for a KCRW Good Food story about the fascinating tradition of the New Orleans King Cake that is usually given and served every year during Mardi Gras.

Reflecting fondly on my all-night "hurricane" fueled revelries in New Orleans years ago that usually ended up with beads around my neck and a hangover in my head, I recall how Cafe Du Monde, with its healing cup of chicory coffee and fistful of world famous beignets, brought me back to life each morning.

Now that I'm older and allergic to hurricanes, I can appreciate these sweet beignets on their own without a hangover as a pairing.

So I asked Miss Cynthia back then if she made beignets. She said she did and but not always. She said, with a wink, "I'll let you know when we do."

Guess what? I was just alerted and beignets and coffee are on this weekend, the 3rd weekend for these ridiculously good New Orleans pastries.

Don't just sit there staring at your computer, get over to Ladera Heights and load up on beignets!

Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!
