Who can take a sunrise
Sprinkle it in dew

Cover it in chocolate
And a miracle or two?

The candyman
The candyman can

The candyman can 'cause he mixes it with love And makes the world taste good

Who can take tomorrow
Dip it in a dream

Separate the sorrow
And collect up all the cream?

The candyman can 'cause he mixes it with love
And makes the world taste good

And the world tastes good 'cause the candyman thinks it should.

The Swirl Candy Apple Co. could possibly be the new, modern day, leaner, sleeker version of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory. It's fun, fresh and makes everyone's eyes grow wide with childhood candied fantasy.

Hailing from Hawaii, this candy apple confectioner recently set up its magical munchie mart at the Westfield Topanga in Canoga Park, CA (not to be confused with the Westfield Promenade one block south).

DSC03684

Ideally situated near the double-decker carousel and indoor playground, Swirl draws kids and sweets lovers of all ages to its irresistible candy apple stand like moths to a caramel coated flame.

DSC03656

Unlike other candy apple vendors, Swirl makes your treat to order — dipped and dunked before your lustful eyes.

The concept is deliciously simple: 1) Choose an item. 2) Choose a dip. 3) Choose a mix.

DSC03667

However, that's where the easy part ends.

DSC03713

Choosing between the apple, frozen banana, frozen cheesecake (on a stick!) from the Cheesecake Factory or premium ice cream is tough enough, but then you gotta decide whether you want your item dunked into caramel, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or white mint.

DSC03715

The final and most delectably challenging decision is picking a mix to gunk your goo with.

DSC03717

Your options are deliciously dizzying! Select from: Triple Chocolate Chunk, Berry Berry Good, Mmmarvelous M&Ms, Almond Brittle Bash! , Pina Kool-Ada, Happy Trails, Just Peanuts, Rainbow Fusion, Kooky Kookie Crumble, American Pie, Peanut Butter Cup, Macaroon Mash!, Nuttin' But Nuts, More S'mores, Tacky Turtle, Crunchy Munchies, Rockin' Rocky Road, Spoiled Rotten "dirt and worms", among many others!!

DSC03721

One of my Granny Smith apples was drowned in tar-thick, melted chocolate and then encrusted in an Almond Roca-esque trio of sliced almonds, toffee bits and milk chocolate chips. This mix, dubbed the Almond Brittle Bash!, is a favorite of mine since Almond Roca is like my heroin.

DSC03673

Little Phee-Phee really digs the frozen banana dipped in dark chocolate and rolled in Rainbow Fusion sprinkles with mini marshmallow puffs.

DSC03680

She loves it so much that she wants to marry it when she grows up.

DSC03682

Of course, being a good daddy, I'll have a shotgun and a firm handshake to greet it when I meet it at the door.

DSC03677

Encased in red, sugary shellac, the good ol' candied apples are almost too pretty to eat. They'd make a nice paper weight and probably have a decent shelf life.

DSC03678

Coco is into American Girl dolls and being spoiled rotten, which is probably why she picked Spoiled Rotten "dirt and worms", made up of crushed chocolate wafers, gummy worms, peanut butter chips and chocolate chips, to adorn her premium ice cream bar. She's actually eaten pan-fried crickets before so this is truly kid stuff for her.

DSC03679

I bet she enjoyed the Spoiled Rotten ice cream bar a little more than the crickets.

DSC03706

Daddy loves his dark chocolate dipped frozen Cheesecake Factory cheesecake all covered up with Almond Brittle Bash!

DSC03707

Crunchy, crispy, creamy, cheesy and chocolaty, I have all my vitamin Cs covered.

DSC03708

It's a big thumbs up combined with a major sugar rush. Suddenly, I feel like running many laps around the mall.

DSC03709

A couple of sweet things from my P.O.V.

DSC03725

Swirl's unofficial sweets model. She gets paid with apples.

The only things sweeter than that chocolate-dipped-almond-roca-enveloped cheesecake are your two little girls.

You HAD to have the frozen & encrusted cheesecake, didn't you?! I'll bet the girls were bouncing off the walls for hours afterwards.
Seriously great pics. I could do some real damage at that place.

Kiki! Thanks, girl! So happy you like the photos! Yes, Swirl is one tasty place.

BunnyEatsDesign, thanks so much for the nice comment! You know, I'm actually more of a savory tooth myself but I have a major weakness for certain sweets like cheesecake or Almond Roca. Now, put those two together and fuggedaboutit!!

Max, that Almond Roca cheesecake...INSANE!! I had to be chained down after that one!! I seriously had not experienced a sugar rush like that ever!! The kids got their sugar super powers cooled down at the indoor playground. Thank God!!
