Deep End Dining's Best of LA Food 2010 on the Madeleine Brand Show. KPCC 89.3 FM.

Maddy & Eddie!

My intention was to do a Deep End Dining year-in-review since 2010 was such an eventful one with my appearances on KABC Eyewitness News, Top Chef Masters, Extreme Cuisine book signings, playing emcee for Chinatown's Summer Nights & Moon Festival and other memorable moments.

However, I got busy and lazy and didn't do a wrap-up (too much tasty egg nog and cozy yule log can euthanize any work ethic).

So, it's a good thing Madeleine Brand, host of her eponymous show, gave me a shot at wrapping up the 2010 year of food in LA. If you haven't listened to the Madeleine Brand Show, it's essentially a news show with lots of local human interest stories sprinkled in with a dash of hipster style à la NPR. If you're not listening, you should!

My segment has already aired but is available for listening anytime on the Madeleine Brand Show website.

There were a couple of glaring errors (like me thinking Michael Voltaggio is a twin and neglecting to mention that he is no longer with The Langham), but overall I think it's a pretty good summary on the year. (I'm sure I left out some restaurants, chefs and food due to time and/or editing. Feel free to leave any of those you feel strongly about in the comments.)

I'd like to thank Josh Lurie of the great Food GPS website, Will Chi of Fooddigger, Val of Trippy Food and Brian Saltsburg for their assist on my segment.
