Okonomiyaki From the Birthplace of Okonomiyaki Comes to Downtown L.A. For One Delicious Night Only! Dance, Bonito, Dance!

okonomikyaki

Okonomiyaki is known as many things to many people—some think of it as Japanese pizza, pancake, soul food, drunk food, or hangover cure. Essentially a thick pancake of flour, water, dashi, egg, grated and shredded veggies like yam and cabbage, okonomiyaki can be topped with all manner of things such as seafood, pork, cheese, and even mochi. One of my faves is katsuobushi aka bonito flakes. Because of the heat emanating from the hot-off-the-grill okonomiyaki, the wispy shavings of dried bonito appear to move, lazily undulating. (Sometimes this phenomenon is referred to as dancing bonito in Japanese restaurants.) A thick, sweet okonomiyaki sauce and Japanese mayo complete this hearty dish.

If you are a fan of this super popular Japanese food or want to discover it for the first time, here is an amazing opportunity to try okonomiyaki for the first or 500th time!

"Yuya Miyamoto, aka the Okonomiyaki Ninja (who's training began at Fugetsu Okonomiyaki, Osaka, Japan... the birthplace of this wonderful dish), is in the U.S. for another few weeks and we're celebrating with a one-night-only okonomiyaki tasting dinner!

Tickets include:

(Expect goodness like, CHORIZO Okonomiyaki!)
- 2 sangrias.

Beers and Sangria will be available for purchase.
Dine under the stars at one of Downtown LA's coolest venues, The Container Yard.
Tickets are very limited and by invite only.
