Live Tentacles The Movie. Rated NBL (Not Before Lunch). The Prince Restaurant Revisited. Los Angeles, CA.
If a picture of live, squirming tentacles is worth a thousand people feeling nauseous, then a streaming video of the tentacles is worth a zillion vomitoriums. If you still can't quite picture a plate of these slithering, slimy octopus appendages from The Prince Restaurant after reading my article or even after listening to my story about the experience on KCRW's "Good Food" show, then surrender any last bit of imagination you might have left because you won't need an ounce of it when you check out this clip.
Bon appétit!

Who sings that song you used in the video clip?
I love you site, and I hope you don't mind me adding you to my blog roll. Also I love the tenticle clip, reminds me of my childhood in Korea. LOL Thanks for a great laugh!

I have never seen that dish on the menu at The Prince, it must be the other untranslated dish (next to the fried crickets...)
I look forward to following your reviews. There is plenty of good gross food in K-town, thats for sure!!
thank you for checking us out and adding us to your blogroll. yeah, fatmanseoul is the OG of the live tentacle streaming video experience.
marc,
if you come across anything weird, wacky or odd in LA's food scene, please let me know. thanks!
das,
the thing i yanked out was the big piece of tentacle. i pulled it out because it was suctioning on to the back of my throat and was gagging me. i put it back in and chewed at it again. the small piece of tentacle took the opportunity and stuck on to my finger and hung on for dear life...i guess.
I saw this video and thought of you and your tentacles. Just take a look at what you were eating: Giant Octopus at work.
Donna
seriously.
and the music - it's pretty.
I have been trying to find an actual *recipe* for silkworms - doesn't really matter how, just something that makes them tasty - I've heard bad things about the canned ones (see also: wormfoods page on my website). Any suggestions?
i've only tried silk worm pupae once and it really wasn't very good. i ate a good amount of them hoping that it could become an acquired taste. the taste was never acquired. i describe it as tasting like a cockroach infested apartment. not good.
i don't know of any recipes for silk worms. the ones i had were sauteed in a watery, opaque sauce.
good luck!
a plateful of live tentacles is mighty ambitious. a half dozen is more than enough. more than that and these things might strangle you. good luck.
Good times.
If anyone wants to order this it is 산낙지 = Sahn Knock Jee
thanks very much for giving my readers the name of this dish. it'll make it that much easier to order a very difficult dish!
no, i didn't feel it moving in my stomach because i made certain to chew the living shit out of it. thanks for your concern.
